Shutterboard Bingo

Shutterboard Bingo, otherwise known as 80 ball bingo, is slowly becoming just as popular as the traditional 75 ball bingo and 90 ball bingo games as more and more bingo sites are introducing this game to their software packages.

My earliest memory of playing shutterboard bingo was when we used to go and stay with my nan and visiting the arcade on the pier, where we used to play the shutterboard game and closing the plastic shutter across as the numbers were called.

The 80 ball bingo card consists of 16 squares, 4 rows across and 4 rows down which are marked off like a shutter being closed as the numbers are called. The call board for 80 ball bingo is similar to that of 75 ball and 90 ball bingo board in that it has 5 columns across with each column being a different colour. Each column has 16 numbers in it making the total 80.

80 ball bingo tends to consist of a sub pattern and then followed by a coverall. Variations of the sub pattern that I have seen are diagonal line, horizontal line, x pattern, four corners to name but a few. As 80 ball bingo develops I’m sure more patterns will follow.

On the few bingo sites that I have been on that have 80 ball bingo available to play, the card prices, not scratchcards, were 25p and there were a maximum of 6 or 9 cards. So unlike games where you can have 24 or more cards to play you are likely to stand more of an equal chance with other players.

Only time will tell whether shutterboard, 80 ball bingo, takes over from 75 ball bingo.
